12. June 2016 | First OSB/3 bright Board Produced at 2:45 p.m. on June 8th
After almost exactly nine months of construction, the SWISS KRONO GROUP’s newest and most advanced OSB plant will begin full-scale production at Vásárosnamény in the weeks ahead. The first OSB/3 bright board has already been successfully produced: at 2:45 p.m. on June 8th.
Under the supervision of Dr Matthias Irede, who is the Managing Director of SWISS KRONO Tec. AG and has been in charge of the construction project, up to 1600 builders, installers and assemblers have worked daily over the past nine months, joining forces in an incredible effort and going all out with total precision and dedication to instil new life into the former particleboard plant.
Managing Director Hendrik Hecht, the project’s mastermind, is overjoyed at the start of production of OSB/3 bright. He sees the new era that is now dawning as “a genuine and highly promising alternative for the Hungarian site.”
The OSB plant in Vásárosnamény is the most advanced in existence and so far the only one in the world to have been equipped with the latest generation of Siempelkamp machines. The plans call for it to manufacture a yearly volume of about 300,000 cu.m of SWISS KRONO OSB/3 bright – an extremely versatile, sustainable, high-performance material – to supply dealers and the construction and packaging industries.
Before the plant is officially inaugurated with an event in September 2016 attended by invited politicians and prominent businesspeople and starts producing at full capacity, over the weeks ahead it will be gradually ramped up.
Dr Hans Fechner, representing the management board of G. Siempelkamp GmbH & Co. KG, congratulated the project team and proclaimed that “this is an incredible achievement and absolutely without precedent!”
Uwe Jöst, Managing Director of the German site at Heiligengrabe and the SWISS KRONO GROUP’s coordinator for OSB, is also proud of the new plant, calling it “a truly remarkable accomplishment in a very short space of time, and the entire project team headed by Dr Matthias Iredi deserves warm praise for their hard work, sweat and dedication.”
Barnabás Seregi, also a Managing Director of SWISS KRONO Hungary, stressed that “we will now be using a state-of-the-art ContiRoll® system to continuously produce SWISS KRONO OSB/3 bright that satisfies our customers’ high quality expectations while adding another 20% to the overall production volume of the SWISS KRONO GROUP, which is currently about 1.5 million cubic metres.”
Eco-friendly SWISS KRONO OSB/3 bright is on track to obtain CE certification. It is produced in compliance with EN 13986 using only completely formaldehyde-free binder resins, and is excellently suited for a wide range of constructive and decorative uses, including packaging and applications in moist areas owing to its water-repellent properties.
